Health Record Resources

Health Record Resources was founded on the premise that educating patients about personal health records (PHR's) will benefit both patients and health care providers.

Few would argue the importance of patient education in health care.  Education plays an important role in increasing a patient's understanding of his or her medical condition and improving their overall health and well-being.   We believe that educating patients to the benefits of maintaining a personal health record (PHR) will empower and motivate them to become more involved in their overall health care as well.

Dave Walker  has over twenty years of pharmacy management experience in retail, hospital and long term care consulting settings.  His interest in  personal health records began several years ago and he has focused on patient education  as well as  products and services that will assist patients to start and maintain personal health records.  He has a Wordpress blog titled "Pharmacy 2.0 and 1/2" and you can find him on LinkedIn and Twitter @drwalker_rph.

Personal health information is just that--personal.   Patients have a legal right to their personal health information and should be actively involved in compiling, managing and sharing that information with health care providers.  Health Record Resources is a resource site where patients and health care providers can find reliable, educational information on the use of personal health records.

At Health Record Resources we take personal health records (PHR's) seriously.  Our mission is to promote the awareness and utilization of PHR's.  We believe that patient involvement is key to the development and evolution of PHR's.  Health Record Resources not only provides information that will educate and inform patients about PHR's but also gives them an opportunity to share their experiences.

Health Record Resources does not currently capture or store any personal health information.  We are  concerned with the security and confidentiality that is needed to protect patient privacy.  We acknowledge the work that is being done to protect the health information of all patients and expect it to result in the safe use of electronic medical records (EMR' s) and personal health records (PHR's).  We also acknowledge that as patients recognize the importance of sharing their health information and begin doing so they will find that the benefits will overshadow their concerns.

On our site you will find educational materials, references and tools that will encourage and support those interested in getting involved with personal health records.  Whether you are a patient or health care provider, we hope that you will become actively involved, visiting our site often to share your thoughts, ideas and experiences with us and our other visitors.  We encourage you to get involved, get educated and do something positive for your self, your family and your health.
